Happy Veterans' Day

My love and support goes out to those who have supported us with their lives and their sacrifice.

Mum almost named me Poppy for being born today. So glad she didn't. ;)

A local man has been arrested for killing his wife, and as the story has developed, it becomes obvious what went terribly wrong here. Desperation is driving people into doing things that were unthinkable to them at one time. This falls on the heels of an acquaintance's suicide, not only due to depression, but desperation, he was being evicted from his long time home.

On a better note, this young woman is amazing. How wonderful to find such a passion at such a young age.

I think it was one of my neighbors who found your acquaintance's body. They had purchased the home at auction earlier in the year. They have since been in contact with his family about passing along any family mementos they find.

It is all so terribly sad.

Yes, it is very sad that it came to this for him.

I always feel sad on Veterans' Day; my dad was in the Naval Reserves (funny-he got seasick at the drop of a hat) before I was born, and was very proud of his service. He went to the North Inman Cemetery on Memorial Day every year, to set up flags and participate in the ceremonies.

I read a few more articles on the murder; it's terrible, you're correct.

I can't help but feel sorry for anyone who, in answer to the setting of bail, says "Your honor, even if on my own recognizance, I have no place to go.”

And, after all the sorrowful stuff-Happy belated birthday!

And yes, that little Russian gal is pretty amazing!
I work with a woman (well-girl to me; she's 19, I think) who's sister is a weightlifter (or body builder-can't remember the conversation very well). She's a state champion at it in her age bracket, and may be even higher than that. She started when she was barely in her teens.

Thank you for the greetings!

Life has sorrow with the joy, I think sometimes it's good to acknowledge it before moving on. I take it your father is no longer around? My sympathy.

I've always wondered how well I'd do at something like that.. of course, with lifting restrictions now.. um probably not so great, haha! But I love seeing people's development at it.

Very welcome!

Yes, he passed several years ago, on the day after Thanksgiving, of cancer. We all miss him, even now, but it's sort of amazing just how much other people do. Every time he comes up in conversation, someone will say what a great guy he was, and how much they miss him. I'm really proud of that; it makes me feel good, I guess.

I would probably do pretty well, but I have NOT got the drive to do it the way it needs to be done. I'm too much of a laid back personality!

He lives on in everyone's memories, and it sounds like they are all fond ones.
